The Birthday Girl

I can't believe my first baby girl is five. It seems like just yesterday that they handed me that bundle of pink perfection. She was a c-section baby, and so her little head was perfectly round, she had rosy cheeks, the cutest little girly lips, and a birthmark on her neck that looks exactly like the one on my arm. I love that birthmark on her. She was beautiful then and she is beautiful now. But now, we know her. Her laugh, her sweetness, her spicy-ness. I couldn't imagine life without her. She makes our household loud and fun and sweet and girly. She loves playing house, working puzzles, making crafts, playing pet shop, Barbies, or kitchen. She loves to dance. She loves to turn cartwheels. She loves lip gloss. She loves McDonalds. She loves "movie nites". She wants to grow up, but she still wants us to hold her and rock her. She loves her daddy like there is no tommorrow and she wants to be just like her mommy. She adores her big brother and she nurtures her baby sister just like a wonderful big sister should. She is smart. She loves deeply. She is loyal. She is giving. Her homemade wrapped presents to her mom and dad were the first ones under the Christmas tree this year. She is everything I could have ever wanted in a daughter and more. She is still our bundle of pink perfection, with a bow on top, of course. Happy Birthday, Savannah Grace. We love you more than you could ever know.

It was icy this morning and Jackson's school was delayed two hours, so the kids got to sleep late. Jody woke Savannah Grace up before he left for work and brought her down to our bedroom. She laid in the bed with a huge grin and wide eyes, like she simply could not believe she was finally five years old. She's been waiting for this day all year! I took her to school a little late and we took a birthday fruit tray for her class. After school, I picked her and Houston up and we went out to eat at Kathleen's Kitchen. After lunch, I took the girls for pedicures and manicures. They each got pink with white polka dots, with glitter on top.

The day ended with a birthday party at Simply Puzzled. 15 of her friends came for dress-up, make-up and hair-dos, a tea party and fashion show. Savannah Grace loved it! She went to bed a very happy little 5-year-old.
